Ups and downs

I’ve been posting a lot of notes lately and I think switching to posting on my own site helped with the mental block, though I’m still unsure where to syndicate to. I’ve also been sleeping better now that I’m no longer on vampire hours and that helps a lot too.

I’ve incorporated a few hard rules to my day:

  1. No coffee after 12PM
  2. No screens between 9PM and 5AM
  3. Deep work until 9AM

Sundays are the exception to rule #2 since we have watch club at 9PM. To be honest I’ve actually been looking forward to 9PM. When the computer turns off the ensuing silence feels amazing.

Anyway, so far so good. I’m not the best at keeping to set schedules so I’m trying to make sure this works before I try to add anything else.

This week so far has had its ups and downs but such is life. I’m also a bit stressed because our gardener abruptly quit gardening (in general) and the weeds he poisoned came back with a vengeance and now it’s all worse. Never mind the rest of the yard.

And I don’t mean to crap on adulting because being able to buy all the games and candy I want does have its advantages but nobody warns you that things break all the time and that you have to do something about it. Like at some point today I’m gonna have to grab the big girl power tools and take the dishwasher apart to clean up the water at the bottom and reset the sensor thing and well, I’m not looking forward to that.

But on the plus side I did buy some mini burgers yesterday and now that it’s noon (and I can no longer drink coffee) it’s time to eat some food.

So I guess in the end it all balances out.
